this is a spring made to correct a previous repair, the twisted piece of wire above it.

this is the striking rack spring for an antique musical clock. Made by hand, it is a replacement for the missing original one. It matches the style of other components on the movement. The twisted wire above it is from a prior service, they did the best they could with what was available, no real harm done, it did work, usually though the little extra effort to make the part correctly is more than worth it for the final result.
